About Us
Neurafarm is a smart farming company that specializes in utilizing cutting-edge technology such as Data Analytics and Machine Learning to improve productivity and efficiency in the Agriculture Industry.
Neurafarm is led by Febi Agil Ifdillah. He's an experienced Software Engineer with extensive background in Machine Learning and Distributed System. In the past, he re-built an AI bot for Unilever Indonesia that serves 1.4 million of user when he was in Kata.ai as an intern. He also built a Financial Management System for cooperation of Pertamina Geothermal Ulubelu Area, Innovation Management System for Amoeba (under PT. Telkom Indonesia), and many more.
Founded in 2018 by graduates from Bandung Institute of Technology, majoring in Computer Science/Informatics, Electrical Engineering, Agriculture Engineering, and System & Technology Information, Neurafarm began the journey in revolutionizing the agriculture industry by creating an AI system to help farmers cope with plant disease.

Opportunity and Objectives
Context
PT. Great Giant Pineapple (GGP) was established in 1979. It now operates the largest integrated canned pineapple facility in the world, with its plantation and factory (including drum and can production) in one location. This integration gives GGP an edge in quality control and traceability of products, as well environmental sustainability through synergy in waste management. GGP's land covers 32,000 hectares in Lampung, of which 13,000 is dedicated for growing pineapples. Annually, GGP processes more than 630,000 tons of pineapples and exports 13,000+ containers of canned pineaples to more than 60 countries.
Problem and Opportunity
According to Jane Fransisca, Managing Director F&A and Business Development GGP, the company aimed to achieve 17,000 FCL in 2023 and increase its canned pineapple production by 20,000 tons to 650,000 tons in 2019. Which means, more work to do.
More work for planning, estimation, counting, processing, scheduling, etc.
There's a report by one of leading sector players that they only samples 5% of their tree’s for yield estimations because of the time it took for human counting. Given the significance of accurate harvest forecasts for pricing, supply chain and resource allocation; being able to sample 100% of the crop would add significant confidence for the business.
Currently, GGP employs various technology including Drone and IoT for productivity and for achieving great traceability throughout all process: planting, harvesting, processing. However, to sustain the growth and achieve its goals, the company needs to continue to increase its productivity and efficiency. Businesses should look at all the ways technology can help them in order to stay ahead or, at least, avoid being surpassed and left behind.

We have talked about several opportunity to leverage technology, especially Artificial Intelligence, to help GGP increase productivity and resource use efficiency. One of them being the application of Computer Vision for pineapple counting & ripeness detection. With this technology, work that usually takes hours can be done within minutes or even seconds. Neurafarm is really excited to be part of this project, because improving productivity and resource use efficiency in the agriculture industry through technology has always been our mission since Day 1.

By using video/image fly-by of all tree’s using a camera mounted on a vehicle (tractor or ATV) or drone and processed with Machine learning model to process the footage and accurately count the fruit on each tree, the final solution will enable GGP to get a much more accurate picture of their operation. With frequent fly-by’s, data could be collected to predict harvesting times and provide insights useful to the sales team and distribution customers. The business intelligence potential could help transform the operations of the business as well.

Our system can be as 99% faster than manual method. It also enables more accurate data reporting because with this system you don't have to manually sample over your data again, enabling more accurate reporting and prediction. Because of its scalibility, this technology could help GGP throughout any stage of the business. Steps & Timeline
The total time of getting your system from concept (PoC) to launch is around 16 weeks. We have listed the steps below.
Proof of Concept , 6-8 Weeks
October - December 2019
Proof of concept (PoC) is a realization of a certain method or idea in order to demonstrate its feasibility or a demonstration in principle with the aim of verifying that some concept or theory has practical potential.
For developing POC, a small project is implemented to verify if certain concepts can be implemented. There are several things that need to be done:
- Week 1-4: Neurafarm sets & provides environment alongside instruction for data annotation. GGF annotates a small amount of data and send the annotated data to Neurafarm.
- Week 5-8: Neurafarm creates a Machine Learning model that demonstrates the feasibility of the whole project. Certain objectives and thresholds need to be discussed and set; no more than 2 goals.
- The Machine Learning model will be served via Neurafarm's server that's accessible by GGF remotely. The demo will be opened for a week. Then we shall proceed to the decision.
- Next, if positive, we'll get working on the layout of the software and the key flows that the system is being built around. At this point 80% of the system will be designed from a visual perspective. You will also have to choose one of the licensing plans that we provided to proceed to the next step. The plans will be charged after the software is deployed on your premise.
- If negative, Neurafarm will destroy all the data sent by GGF. Neurafarm's server will be shut down immediately.
Your Investment
Sometimes I feel it would be too pricey...
So, here's some perspective on Neurafarm Enterprise Solutions' value so you can make a wiser choice.
First of all, No Data Limits
When you use Neurafarm Enterprise Solutions (NES) On-Premise, it's totally up to you how much data you process. No other tool can give you this freedom, which is a big bonus if your business has demanding data requirements. So long the amount of land covered is still the same with the time you bought the license. Different land size will require re-calculation of license fee.
Second of all..
Let's calculate some things. Without this system, we think usually GGF will do the following:
- 1. Activity: Fruit counting (sampling), Person: Team (5 person), Time: 15 hours/week, which is equal to min. 75 hours, Cost: ?
- 2. Activity: Collecting, comparing, and correcting stats, Person: Assistant, Time: 3 hours/week, Cost: ?
- 3. Activity: Managing deployment, reviewing numbers: Person: Supervisor, Time: 2 hours/week, Cost: ?
Even if we disregard opportunity cost and consider the time and costs in this example are exaggerated, our solution will save you minimum 320 hours every month.
Lastly, let's think beyond prices
Not using Neurafarm's solution and...
- 1. building, maintaining a custom system, and hiring great engineers on your own is more risky
- 2. taking decisions based on inaccurate/incomplete reporting is not ideal.
- 3. not using analytics/data science to grow business means you're losing the opportunity to get to know your business better and save time.

Okay, ready for the strategy?
Our pricing is set in a way that it will actually minimize your risk in terms of cost & time, that's why we created several development phase and various packages that can be chosen as per your needs. There's a little non-refundable payment upfront to get us started for Phase 1 (PoC), but after Phase 1 is finished, you can choose whether to continue or not. you only pay if you are comfortable and want to proceed to the next steps. Please note that if you decided to not proceed to the next steps, we will delete all the files, including the data and code that we created from the PoC phase.
Get result first, pick a licensing plan later
After some calculation, the full working product will require Customization Fee of at least $12,499 and deployment fee is around $275/person/day for our engineer to deploy the solution to your premise on-site. This is the plan:

Firstly, the PoC phase will require only $3750 (30% Customization Fee) deposit upon signing of the proposal. We'll then carry out Phase 1 (Proof of Concept).
$3750 seems like a lot of money. But to put things into perspective... if the PoC (Phase 1) process is done within 3 months, it means that we spend $1250 per month. We use dedicated server instance and our engineers to build the software. A good Machine Learning Engineer alone could cost you up to $700 per month. If you were to choose to develop it on your own, you also have to recruit a good Product Manager, and pay for Machine Learning Server cost (which could be as high as $14 dollar/hour, or maybe $4/hour for lower-end server. And the training process could take up roughly 10+ hours per day). Basically, you'll have to spend at least $2500 or $3000 per month if you do it by yourself. So, let's think of the price we offered as the cost to prove the idea and build a prototype, but way cheaper.
Secondly, $3125 or around 25% of Customization Fee deposit upon starting Phase 2 (Requirements & Development). At this phase, at this phase you will also have to choose one of the plans that we offered below. Then, we carry out Phase 2. The licensing plan will be charged as soon as the deployment is done.
Then, the rest of the payment ($5624) for Customization Fee is paid prior to Deployment & Integration.
Lastly, Integration Fee are paid after completion of Deployment & Integration.
*Exclude: Taxes, Travel Cost & Accomodation
*The amount of customization fee will be adjusted according to the amount of features and complexity of the final product that is gathered in Phase 2 (Requirements gathering)
*License and Maintenace plan should be chosen at Phase 2.
License, Maintenance, and Beyond
After development process is done, We offer 4 types of license based on the duration of the period for which you can use the software: Annual, 2 Year, 3 Year, and Perpetual License. All packages implemented in a non-exclusive rights to the use of a license agreement.
Support includes a dedicated solution engineer, online communication via e-mail, chat or by phone, 9am-3pm, Monday-Friday. Additional fee of $350 a day will be enforced for on-site support.

1 Year Plan
An annual license will allow the customer to use the licensed software for one year, and entitle the customer to download all updates to the software. After the one year period ends, the software will no longer function unless a new license is purchased.

Maintenance & Updates: $2350/mo
Perpetual License
A perpetual license will allow the customer to use the licensed software indefinitely.

Prevent losses
The primary goals of this system is to help GGF prevent losses because of unoptimal operations (harvesting, etc). This system does exactly that, hence it will improve GGF production. It also does the work of an employee – taking care of reporting, analysis and helping with managing the operation. It's just faster.. And we believe dollar to dollar, Neurafarm is the best investment for the future of your businesses.

- All pricing is in USD
- Pricing is per month but billed annually, except otherwise stated; e.g Perpetual License.
- All package applies for unlimited use for 0-1500 (on thousand and five hundred) ha of land.
- All pricing cycle lasts for 2 years. After two years, each package increases by 15%.
- This project is specific for Pineapple. Different commodities will require different machine learning models.
